Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an attachment-based, experiential, relational approach to emotional disorders, health and thriving that is applicable to individuals, as well as couples and families.1 EFT views the core of human distress as residing in unmet relational needs, vulnerable emotion and constricted affect regulation and attachment strategies. Once adaptive, such strategies impede secure relational connection, perpetuate distressing emotional states, contribute to behavioral concerns, and concretize negative views of self and others.
