About Us
Empower Yourself to Lead Confident Discussions on Sexual Health with Our Latinx and BIPOC-Focused Program
In Latinx and BIPOC communities, discussions about sex and sexuality
often remain veiled in silence, perpetuating a lack of dialogue around
sexual health concerns. The demand for Certified Sex Therapists,
Educators, and Counselors is substantial within our communities, yet
access to these roles remains restricted, exacerbating inequalities.
At The Sexual Health School, we strive to break this cycle by equipping you with a comprehensive understanding of human sexuality and sexual health. We firmly believe that knowledge is the key to empowerment. By arming you with the tools to navigate the complexities of sexual health, we empower you to assist individuals from all walks of life.
When you choose The Sexual Health School, you're not just investing in your own professional growth. You're also contributing to the collective effort to bridge the gap and make sexual health services accessible and inclusive for all. Join us today and be part of the movement towards a healthier, more informed future.

our story
Meet Dr. Janet Brito, the founder of The Sexual Health School
Like many Latinx folks, I didn’t grow up talking about sex. It was a taboo subject. For many years, I felt shame about my own sexuality and didn’t know where to turn.
I began pursuing sex therapy training at the Program in Human Sexuality, now known as the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (ISGH) at the University of Minnesota, but even in a generally open-minded landscape, I struggled to find a sense of belonging. Representation was lacking, and I often felt discouraged. However, I was determined to overcome that obstacle and create a sex-positive community for myself and others facing similar challenges.
Drawing from my experience in the sexual health field, I founded The Sexual Health School, a continuing education hub and certification program taught by predominately Latinx and BIPOC instructors, for those seeking a safe space where they can come as themselves.
I’m on a mission to build a sex-positive world. Come join me.
It wasn’t until I enrolled in the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University of Michigan that things started to change. I learned about the diversity of human sexuality, which helped me begin to come into my own. And for the first time, I felt free.
