Gender Diverse Youth: When to Seek Professional Consultation

1.5 CE HOURS
Research examining the experience of gender identity in gender diverse children and adolescents has supported the idea that gender identity development can be a dynamic process, which may not follow a predictable progression. While the course of gender identity development for gender diverse individuals may take unique shape in comparison to their cisgender counterparts, the adaptive human experience of developing a sense of identity is thought to be universal. This course will focus on exploring various considerations of identity development and support for gender diverse children, adolescents, and their families. Particular focus will be aimed at developing understanding of an affirmative approach to care and referral with this population.
