Utilization of EMDR in Treating Childhood Sexual Trauma

This presentation will give a broad overview of the development and research of EMDR Therapy. It will identify the 8 Phases and 3 Prongs of EMDR Therapy and discuss application for a wide variety of mental health diagnoses. Participants will learn about bilateral stimulation and participate in an exercise using BLS. Participants will be able to assess the need for EMDR therapy and will know various resources for EMDR therapists, including EMDR trainings available to clinicians.

Kimberly Ala'ilima is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Private Practice in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kimberly is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant in Training under the governing body of the EMDR International Association. She is a Coach and Consultant for EMDR Consulting's EMDR Basic Training program, overseeing the practicum experiences for enrolled clinicians. She facilitates individual and group consultations for clinicians completing their basic training requirements as well as clinicians who are pursuing Certification in EMDR.
